2012 M-Class

Little was left untouched with Mercedes' redesign of its midsize SUV, the 2012 M-Class. This five-seater has a new look inside and out as well as revised engine offerings and chassis. Of course, we focused on child-safety seats, and we were excited to fit three car seats across the ML350's backseat. Very few two-row vehicles — luxury or otherwise — can handle three across.
For the Car Seat Check, we use a Graco SnugRide 30 rear-facing infant-safety seat, a Britax Roundabout convertible child-safety seat and Graco high-back TurboBooster seat.
The front seats are adjusted to a comfortable position for a 6-foot driver and a 5-foot-8 passenger. The three child seats are installed in the second row. The booster seat sits behind the driver's seat, and the infant seat and convertible seats are installed behind the passenger seat. We also install the infant seat in the second row's middle seat with the booster and convertible in the outboard seats to see if three car seats will fit. If there's a third row, we install the booster seat and a forward-facing convertible.
Here's how the 2012 M-Class did in Cars.com's Car Seat Check:
Latch system: The M-Class has two sets of lower Latch anchors in the second row's outboard seats. The anchors are extremely easy to use because they sit out in the open. The SUV's three tether anchors are also a cinch to use. They're midway down the seatbacks.
Booster seat: The second row's seatbacks recline, which helps a variety of car seats get a good fit. Our high-back booster seat fit well in the second row. The seat belt buckles are on stable bases, making it easier for kids to buckle up independently.

Mercedes-Benz M-Class

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ranks 10 out of 20 Luxury Midsize SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 9 published reviews and test drives of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The redesigned 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class impresses reviewers with its attractive exterior, powerful, yet fuel-efficient V6 engines and more standard features.
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is completely new, and reviewers are happy about the changes they’ve seen so far. The consensus of the auto press for the 2011 model was that it was pricey, and its competitors offered better value. Mercedes-Benz must have taken these comments to heart, because the 2012 M-Class comes with a more extensive list of standard features and has the same base price as the outgoing model. "Mercedes-Benz continues to keep it fresh with an all-new version of its popular M-Class SUV. More powerful engines with better fuel economy, improved handling and new technologies are all ingredients to a prize-winning recipe,” writes Left Lane News. “That they are able to do it and add additional content while holding the line on price-creep is even more impressive.”

2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

The new 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is set to have its official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. However, the premium manufacturer has released full details and specification about the new SAV.
By “new” we don’t mean entirely redesigned model, but a slight facelift, which practically is the old M-Class, but with bigger taillights and interesting headlights. The highlights worth mentioning include a new front grille, new wheel designs from 17” to 21” as the biggest come with AMG badge. The improvements are present, still, we think that the rear lights are directly taken from BMW E61 (the previous 5-Series touring). It is tough to create something new and different these days, but this is Mercedes! If they don’t have the designers and the engineers to create a real new SAV, nobody can’t.
Mercedes Spoilers turn up the heat in the luxury department, highlighting the refined exterior strengths each model seems to hold in spades. As a rule, many perceive spoilers to be geared primarily towards racing enthusiasts or teenage kids who like to zip around the neighborhood. Spoilers can act as elegant additions to the profile, earmarking your ride’s presence to the masses in a whole different way than even the factory package intended. That’s what it’s all about, so why waste time with generic options? You need top-of-the-line quality to get it done. CARiD.com is with you every step of the way with all of the premier brand-names you should expect when it comes to your Mercedes Spoiler at the best value available.

Mercedes M-Class Review

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is pricey for its class. Still, if you’re willing to pay for it, reviewers say the M-Class offers a satisfying combination of luxury, technology and prestige.
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class doesn’t rock the boat. Car and Driver calls it “luxurious, refined, and comfortable.” Of course, reviewers point out that the same description applies to almost every other luxury midsize SUV. So why go for the M-Class?
You certainly wouldn’t go for the M-Class because of its price. The base ML 350’s price falls in the middle of the class. And, for the money, you don’t even get things that many reviewers think should be standard on a luxury SUV, like leather seats. You also don’t get great fuel economy ratings. The ML 350 has a V6 engine with adequate power, but fuel economy ratings that are nothing to write home about. All-wheel drive isn’t even standard on the base model.
No, you go for the M-Class for the same reason you go for any other Mercedes: cachet. The M-Class offers many of the same features as others in the class, but adds the Mercedes name and refinement. Though those qualities are largely intangible, reviewers say the M-Class has them in spades.
The M-Class also offers buyers a dizzying array of models to choose from. There’s the base ML 350, diesel 350 BlueTEC, ML 450 Hybrid and ML 550, which has a powerful V8 engine. The M-Class doesn’t aim to be the most practical SUV in the class, but it does take a shot at being the most exclusive. If you’re willing to put status before budget, reviewers say the 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class won’t disappoint.
Mercedes Grille Guards enact a definitive layer of defense between the front of your vehicle and the elements. Mercedes-Benz M-Class

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class, now in its third generation, is a mid-size luxury SUV that counts the BMW X5, Lexus RS350 and Cadillac SRX as some of its key competitors. Designed when Daimler still owned Chrysler, the perennially hot-selling M-Class shares platform components with the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The exterior styling of the current M-class harkens back to the look of the original model, which debuted in 1997 and was an overnight sales success. The front fascia, though, is inspired by Mercedes-Benz’s latest design language, with a jutting-out grille and swept-back headlamps. From the side, angular lines and a blacked-out D-pillars contribute to a modern appearance. From the rear, the tail lamps are almost car-like, which gives the M-Class the appearance that it is smaller than it is.
The M-Class is offered in gasoline and diesel-powered models, both of which come standard with Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. With a 3.5-liter V6, the gas-burning ML350 puts out 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The ML350 BlueTEC is the fuel economy champ, eking out 25 miles per gallon on the highway from its 3.0-liter diesel six. Torque, at 455 lb-ft, is of the stump-pulling variety, while horsepower checks in at 240. A seven-speed automatic transmission helps make the best of both V6s.
CARiD presents an expansive selection of top-quality Cargo Liners perfect for upping the level of protection inside your vehicle. Mercedes Cargo Liners are mats designed to defend your Car, Truck, or SUV’s cargo and trunk areas. Trunk Mats withstand all weather conditions from freezing cold to blistering heat while rescuing your cargo floor area from spills, dirt, scratches, and debris. This IS professional security with professional results to back it up. We rely on the most advanced technology and research to find the highest quality Cargo Liners available so we can bring you nothing but the best. Guaranteed. Everyone’s interior needs a shield. Here is where to find yours.

Mercedes News

If there's one thing the world needs, it's another BMW X6, right? Mercedes-Benz seems to think so – after all, this isn't the first time we've heard rumblings about a four-door coupe-crossover from the German automaker. Now, Automotive News reports that the new X6 rival will be built at Mercedes' Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant.
Makes sense to us. The swoopy new crossover – speculated to be dubbed 'GLS' – is understood to be based on the redesigned 2012 M-Class, which is also being built at the Tuscaloosa facility. Sources within Mercedes-Benz have told Automotive News that the new crossover will likely start production around 2015.
This announcement of the new M-Class variant's production plans is part of a larger $2 million investment in the Tuscaloosa facility. In addition to the new M-Class, Mercedes-Benz has said that the C-, R- and GL-Class vehicles will also be produced in Alabama.

2011 M-Class

Mercedes-Benz offers two highly fuel-efficient M-Class models for 2011 – a gasoline hybrid and a BlueTEC diesel. Along with the ML450 HYBRID (335 total hp, 381 lb.-ft. of torque) and the ML350 BlueTEC diesel (210 hp, 400 lb.-ft.), the 2011 M-Class line includes the gasoline V6-powered ML350 (268 hp, 258 lb.-ft.), the V8 ML550 (382 hp, 391 lb.-ft.) and the high-performance ML63 AMG (503 hp, 465 lb.-ft). All 2011 M-Class models come with new-design outside mirrors and an inside mirror with an integrated compass.
Helping to underscore the M-Class as one of the safest SUVs in the industry, Blind Spot Assist is a new option for 2011 that monitors both blind spots behind the vehicle. Whenever a turn signal is activated with a vehicle in the blind spot, the driver gets visual and audible warnings. Another new option is a rear-view camera that reduces the usual 'fisheye' distortion.
Luxury isn’t limited to body-styles, performance, and interior comfort. Sometimes, it’s an added flair of exotic radiance that brings it all out. That’s why Mercedes Custom Tail Lights are such a hotly-desired upgrade. Mercedes Custom Taillights produce a distinctive glow that displays more color and brightness than OEM taillights ever could! 2012 M-Class

Mercedes G 500 Cabrio Popemobile. To celebrate Pope Benedict's return to Germany, Mercedes is reportedly developing a new Popemobile based on the 2012 M-Class.
Reports indicate the model will be a hybrid that can travel up to 16 miles (25.7 km/h) on electricity alone. This seems to imply the vehicle will be a plug-in hybrid that adopts the 3.5-liter V6 and 60 PS (44 kW / 59 hp) electric motor from the Mercedes Vision S 500 Plug-in Hybrid concept.
The new Popemobile could be completed later this year, so stay tuned for additional information.

2013 Mercedes-Benz.

We already have a pretty good indication as to what the third-generation 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class will look like following the unveiling of the Concept A-Class back at the 2011 New York Auto Show, but now we have a new round of spy shots revealing just how much of the stylish concept will actually make it to production.
Looking very much like the leaked patent drawings revealed earlier this year, the A-Class prototype you see here has a fairly conventional five-door hatchback design but with a sloping front-end and Mercedes’ stretched arch design for the cabin.
Under the heavy camouflage gear and sheet metal is a new front-wheel drive platform codenamed MFA (Mercedes Frontwheel Architecture), which drops the former sandwich construction for a more conventional car-like design.
Note, a sportier three-door version with similar proportions to the Concept A-Class is expected, as is a high-performance AMG version with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine spitting out close to 320 horsepower.

As for the standard lineup, expect a selection of turbocharged engines, both gasoline and diesel, as well as the choice of either conventional manual transmissions or a dual clutch automatic. The base engine should be a turbocharged and direct injected 2.0-liter unit with about 210 horsepower on tap.
While Europe will get to see the new A-Class in showrooms by the end of next year, Americans will have to wait until early 2013. Another important issue is that the A-Class will have to be priced below the starting price of the C-Class, which currently lists from $33,990.
By the time the car arrives in the U.S., Mercedes-Benz will have launched several other compact models including the next-generation B-Class, which will retain the tallish van like body of the current model, as well as a new BLS four-door coupe designed to take on the upcoming 2013 Audi A3 Sedan and a possible BLK compact crossover.
Great for any Truck, Van, or SUV that presents an obstacle climbing into - Running Boards make your life easier by offering a safer way to get in your vehicle while also adding a bold compliment to the side-exterior. CARiD.com presents a full line of top-quality Running Boards featuring names like Westin®, Romik® and ATS® guaranteeing your vehicle the indispensable "fit & finish" you depend on. Mercedes-Benz News.

Mercedes-Benz is issuing a recall for its 2000-2002 M-Class and 2000-2004 M-Class AMG models after reports that hitting the brakes may not automatically turn off cruise control. The recall affects 136,751 vehicles built between August 1999 and June 2004.
The recall follows a preliminary investigation the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started in December, 2010. The root of the problem is reportedly a failed brake lamp switch, which can cause not only the cruise control issue, but also prevent the vehicle being shifted out of park and a failure of the brake lights.
Though the investigation by NHTSA is only a few months old, Daimler AG issued a technical service bulletin in May, 2005 to replace the faulty brake lamp switch. According to Daimler, the problem can be solved by pumping the brakes to disengage cruise, but the automaker admits that it may require an "unusually high" amount of pressure on the pedal.
Mercedes dealers will replace the switch for affected customers when the recall begins in September.

2012 Mercedes-Benz ML-Class

As the world's automakers go back to the drawing board on what they need to compete in today's market, both structurally and in terms of product, parts sharing and efficiency are increasingly becoming key concepts. The next-generation of the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class SUV could embrace both concepts with a much closer link to the next G-Class and R-Class as well as more forward-looking powertrains.
Due in the middle of 2011, the next-gen ML is still largely a matter of speculation. Spy shots of an early prototype reveal a smaller body than the current ML, though the wheelbase appears unchanged. We also have several shots of the interior as well.
A few reports have suggested that a diesel-electric hybrid ML-Class is in the works, although a gasoline-electric hybrid like that in the upcoming ML450 Hybrid is almost certain. A plug-in variant of the ML hybrid is even possible, featuring an 80-horsepower electric motor paired with a twin-turbocharged and direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 and capable of travelling up to 18-miles on electric power alone is also thought to be in the works.
That plug-in hybrid system will draw on elements from the other hybrid programs within Mercedes, including the S400 powertrain. But other elements, including parts and underpinnings, will be shared more closely across the R-Class successor and G-Class vehicles to help achieve economies of scale while still maintaining separate identities. The chassis underpinning the new SUV is also the same design found in the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, one of the lasting legacies from the now defunct DaimlerChrysler.
The ML’s dominant position as the consumer 4x4 of choice within Mercedes' lineup won't change, though the focus will increasingly be on efficiency rather than performance. Accordingly, European models will likely get a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine rated at 204 horsepower. A V-6 diesel rated at 225 horsepower and a 333 horsepower V-6 gasoline engine is also thought to be in the plans. The V-8 engine will gain direct-injection and twin-turbochargers for the AMG model, which is expected to deliver at least 570 horsepower from its 5.5-liters of displacement. Click here to see spy shots of a prototype for this high-performance variant.
