Mercedes-Benz ML

Fresh off its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG is the company's latest entry into the high-performance SUV fray.
AMG's boss Ola Kallenius says it's a segment the company invented with the original ML AMG, and though BMW and Porsche have attacked it with a vengeance, there's still a lot to say for the ostensible original. Its power comes from a brawny 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8, good for 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That's enough to scoot the big SUV to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
If that's not quick enough for you, there's an AMG Performance Package that boosts output to 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque and shaves a tenth on the 0-60 mph run.
Unbridled power and outrageous sound - that's what accompanies each

Mercedes-Benz M-Class

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ranks 10 out of 20 Luxury Midsize SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 9 published reviews and test drives of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The redesigned 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class impresses reviewers with its attractive exterior, powerful, yet fuel-efficient V6 engines and more standard features.
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is completely new, and reviewers are happy about the changes they’ve seen so far. The consensus of the auto press for the 2011 model was that it was pricey, and its competitors offered better value. Mercedes-Benz must have taken these comments to heart, because the 2012 M-Class comes with a more extensive list of standard features and has the same base price as the outgoing model. "Mercedes-Benz continues to keep it fresh with an all-new version of its popular M-Class SUV. More powerful engines with better fuel economy, improved handling and new technologies are all ingredients to a prize-winning recipe,” writes Left Lane News. “That they are able to do it and add additional content while holding the line on price-creep is even more impressive.”

Mercedes M-Class Review

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is pricey for its class. Still, if you’re willing to pay for it, reviewers say the M-Class offers a satisfying combination of luxury, technology and prestige.
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class doesn’t rock the boat. Car and Driver calls it “luxurious, refined, and comfortable.” Of course, reviewers point out that the same description applies to almost every other luxury midsize SUV. So why go for the M-Class?
You certainly wouldn’t go for the M-Class because of its price. The base ML 350’s price falls in the middle of the class. And, for the money, you don’t even get things that many reviewers think should be standard on a luxury SUV, like leather seats. You also don’t get great fuel economy ratings. The ML 350 has a V6 engine with adequate power, but fuel economy ratings that are nothing to write home about. All-wheel drive isn’t even standard on the base model.
No, you go for the M-Class for the same reason you go for any other Mercedes: cachet. The M-Class offers many of the same features as others in the class, but adds the Mercedes name and refinement. Though those qualities are largely intangible, reviewers say the M-Class has them in spades.
The M-Class also offers buyers a dizzying array of models to choose from. There’s the base ML 350, diesel 350 BlueTEC, ML 450 Hybrid and ML 550, which has a powerful V8 engine. The M-Class doesn’t aim to be the most practical SUV in the class, but it does take a shot at being the most exclusive. If you’re willing to put status before budget, reviewers say the 2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class won’t disappoint.

Mercedes-Benz M-Class

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class, now in its third generation, is a mid-size luxury SUV that counts the BMW X5, Lexus RS350 and Cadillac SRX as some of its key competitors. Designed when Daimler still owned Chrysler, the perennially hot-selling M-Class shares platform components with the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The exterior styling of the current M-class harkens back to the look of the original model, which debuted in 1997 and was an overnight sales success. The front fascia, though, is inspired by Mercedes-Benz’s latest design language, with a jutting-out grille and swept-back headlamps. From the side, angular lines and a blacked-out D-pillars contribute to a modern appearance. From the rear, the tail lamps are almost car-like, which gives the M-Class the appearance that it is smaller than it is.
The M-Class is offered in gasoline and diesel-powered models, both of which come standard with Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. With a 3.5-liter V6, the gas-burning ML350 puts out 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The ML350 BlueTEC is the fuel economy champ, eking out 25 miles per gallon on the highway from its 3.0-liter diesel six. Torque, at 455 lb-ft, is of the stump-pulling variety, while horsepower checks in at 240. A seven-speed automatic transmission helps make the best of both V6s.
CARiD presents an expansive selection of top-quality Cargo Liners perfect for upping the level of protection inside your vehicle. Mercedes News

If there's one thing the world needs, it's another BMW X6, right? Mercedes-Benz seems to think so – after all, this isn't the first time we've heard rumblings about a four-door coupe-crossover from the German automaker. Now, Automotive News reports that the new X6 rival will be built at Mercedes' Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant.
Makes sense to us. The swoopy new crossover – speculated to be dubbed 'GLS' – is understood to be based on the redesigned 2012 M-Class, which is also being built at the Tuscaloosa facility. Sources within Mercedes-Benz have told Automotive News that the new crossover will likely start production around 2015.
This announcement of the new M-Class variant's production plans is part of a larger $2 million investment in the Tuscaloosa facility. In addition to the new M-Class, Mercedes-Benz has said that the C-, R- and GL-Class vehicles will also be produced in Alabama.

2012 M-Class

Mercedes G 500 Cabrio Popemobile. To celebrate Pope Benedict's return to Germany, Mercedes is reportedly developing a new Popemobile based on the 2012 M-Class.
Reports indicate the model will be a hybrid that can travel up to 16 miles (25.7 km/h) on electricity alone. This seems to imply the vehicle will be a plug-in hybrid that adopts the 3.5-liter V6 and 60 PS (44 kW / 59 hp) electric motor from the Mercedes Vision S 500 Plug-in Hybrid concept.
The new Popemobile could be completed later this year, so stay tuned for additional information.

Mercedes-Benz News.

Mercedes-Benz is issuing a recall for its 2000-2002 M-Class and 2000-2004 M-Class AMG models after reports that hitting the brakes may not automatically turn off cruise control. The recall affects 136,751 vehicles built between August 1999 and June 2004.
The recall follows a preliminary investigation the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started in December, 2010. The root of the problem is reportedly a failed brake lamp switch, which can cause not only the cruise control issue, but also prevent the vehicle being shifted out of park and a failure of the brake lights.
Though the investigation by NHTSA is only a few months old, Daimler AG issued a technical service bulletin in May, 2005 to replace the faulty brake lamp switch. According to Daimler, the problem can be solved by pumping the brakes to disengage cruise, but the automaker admits that it may require an "unusually high" amount of pressure on the pedal.
Mercedes dealers will replace the switch for affected customers when the recall begins in September.
